Juergen Plieninger, born 1955, married, three children.
Vocational education: 1976-1979 Fachhochschule für Bibliothekswesen Stuttgart (college for library science), 1980-1988 study of sociology and european ethnology at the University of Tuebingen, 1989-1995 graduation in sociology.
Occupations: 1979-1980 civil service in a asylum for derelicts, 1982-1990 lecturer at skill courses for civil servants in a charity, 1985-1990 part-time occupation in two special libraries in Tuebingen, since 1990 full-time occupation at the library of the Institute of Political Science, Tuebingen (50.500 vols., 100 journals). 2017-2022 also librarian of the library of the Institute of Sociology in Tuebingen (22.000 vols, 40 journals). Since 2020 head of the WiSoPol Library Tübingen, additionally I am subject librarian of Political Science and Sociology at the University Library Tübingen. Retired as of August 2022.
Reviewer at several journals since 1996, for example at IFB Abstracts. Lecturer in courses and workshops for library management, online research and library2.0 since 1999. Author of several „checklists“ for library/opl-management (in German) since 2004.
Memberships: BIB (Berufsverband Information Bibliothek, German Association of Information and Library Professionals), chair of the Commission for One-Person-Librarians and chair of the Web Commission and Arbeitsgemeinschaft Spezialbibliotheken (ASpB, Special Libraries Association), member of the advisory board.
Lectureships: University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (2010-2018 library typology, 2018ff. inventory management), Hochschule der Medien Stuttgart (2016-2019 social media in libraries) and Berlin School of Library and Information Science at Humboldt University of Berlin (2019 one-person librarianship).
